I. James Cavoli
Chief Executive Officer
Jim is Chief Executive Officer and a founding member of Life Settlement Insights LLC (LSInsights) and LifeX, Inc. He is responsible for all aspects of the companies, with specific emphasis on finance, strategy, and investor relations.

Prior to founding LSInsights, Jim was a General Manager at Progressive Insurance for eight years. Preceding his time at Progressive, Jim served in various finance positions, including Mergers Acquisitions and Funding Manager for the Asia-Pacific region for Ford Motor Company. Jim also served as an officer in the United States Army.

Jim earned his MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration and Bachelor of Science degrees with honors in International Business and Accounting from Georgetown University.

Cynthia M. Poveda
Executive Vice President
Cyndi is Executive Vice President for Life Settlement Insights LLC. She is responsible for institutional investor and provider relations and also directs negotiation, case management, and other transaction-related activities. Her other responsibilities include the management of LSI’s compliance and operations departments.

With more than ten years’ experience in the financial services industry, Cyndi has managed institutional equity sales territories for KeyBank Capital Markets and Citigroup as well as established new sales markets for FTN Midwest Securities during its start-up phase. Prior to her sell-side experience, Cyndi managed personal trust and charitable endowment investment portfolios for National City Corporation.

Cyndi earned her MBA from Case Western Reserve University and her BSBA in Finance from the University of Louisville.

Kevin J. Herendeen
Chief Financial Officer
Kevin Herendeen is chief financial officer at Life Settlement Insights. In this role, has responsibility for the major financial activities of the firm including long-term budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, capital planning, and risk management.

Prior to LSI, Mr. Herendeen worked for Dun & Bradstreet where he served in several senior managerial roles. He has held various management positions in finance, sales, and operations during his 22-year career. Mr. Herendeen graduated from Kent State University in 1986 and earned his CPA in 1988.

Morton Sass, MD
Medical Director
Dr. Sass is the Medical Director at Life Settlement Insights. Dr. Sass is responsible for evaluating all life settlement cases to ensure proper valuation and expedite the settlement process.

Prior to joining LSI, Dr. Sass practiced Internal Medicine for over 30 years and held several leadership positions within the Cleveland Clinic Health System, including President of the Huron Hospital Medical Staff. In addition to being an accomplished physician, Dr. Sass authored numerous thought leadership articles that have been published in national medical journals. Dr. Sass also served as an officer in the United States Air Force.

Dr. Sass earned his MD from The Ohio State University College of Medicine.

Scott Lawson, JD
General Counsel
Scott is General Counsel for Life Settlement Insights LLC and LifeX, Inc. He is responsible for managing the firm’s contracts and compliance as well as protecting its intellectual property.

Scott's extensive legal experience in the insurance industry includes serving as Senior Counsel for Progressive Insurance, where he managed contracts and compliance matters. He also served as Manager of Compliance and Regulatory Affairs for Unity Mutual Life Insurance Company.

Scott earned his JD from Cleveland State University, Cleveland-Marshall College of Law and his BA in Political Science from State University of New York.
